First announcement




The Department of Physics of Materials, Charles University, Prague, has been regularly organising International Symposia on Physics of Materials (ISPMA). The series started in 1972 under title International Symposium on Plasticity of Metals and Alloys. Since 1990, the Symposia take place every three years in Prague. The next Symposium ISPMA 14 will focus on fundamental and applied aspects of physics of alloys, intermetallics, non-metallic materials, composites, submicrocrystalline and nanocrystalline materials, and materials science.

The Symposium will be held at the Faculty Conference Centre “Profesní dům” (historical building of the former Jesuit College) close to the baroque St. Nicholas Cathedral in Malá Strana Square, at the foot of the Prague Castle.

Registration Fees

Regular fee:

  • 550 EUR (14 850 CZK) if paid before May 31, 2017
  • 600 EUR (16 200 CZK) if paid after May 31, 2017

The Symposium fee includes organising costs, Symposium Proceedings, lunches, and social program (welcome party, concert, Symposium dinner). The fee does not include the accommodation costs.


Reduced fee:

  • 370 EUR (9 990 CZK) if paid before May 31, 2017
  • 420 EUR (11 340 CZK) if paid after May 31, 2017

The reduced fee does not include Symposium Proceedings, lunches, and social program.


The fee for accompanying persons:

  • 120 EUR (3 240 CZK)

It covers the social program.


The Symposium fee is to be paid by a bank order.

The official language of the Symposium will be English. Plenary lectures (45 min + 10 min for discussion), invited talks (25 min + 5 min for discussion) and other contributions (15 min + 5 min for discussion) will be presented orally.

Abstracts & Papers

  • Prospective authors are requested to submit a one-page abstract by March 31, 2017. The abstracts containing the title, name of author(s), and affiliation(s) should be written in MS Word for Windows text editor (abstract_style.doc) and sent as an attachment via E-mail (ispma [at] met [dot] mff [dot] cuni [dot] cz).
  • A book of abstracts will be available at the Symposium.
  • The manuscripts have to be submitted at the registration. After reviewing the contributions will be published in the Symposium Proceedings that will appear as a special issue of the international journal Acta Physica Polonica A (the journal is included in the Thomson-Reuters database and has an impact factor).
